Here we are, the brave group. On Saturday Portland was suppose to get 1 1/2 inches of rain. We did.

The tall lonesome tree is our destination.

Well we made it. Look close and you can see the blue hood of one of my fellow hikers. She is standing at the base of a 600 year old Douglas Fir tree. Its bark is over 1 1/2 foot thick!

I thought this might be an old homestead. I googled it and found out it was an old restroom build during the depression but abandoned due to vandalism.

Balch Creek also runs through the Audubon Sanctuary for more than a mile and is populated with native cutthroat trout. Sorry no fishing!

On an earlier post a friend commented that this group of mushrooms looked like a little family. Well you can see what happens when people let their dogs wander off the trails. I will see what they look like this weekend.
